The Community Housing Group Limited (The Parent) was established in March 2005 after 5 years of success as a single Housing Company (Wyre Forest Community Housing). The company is limited by guarantee, is non-profit making and registered with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

It consists of five subsidiaries: Wyre Forest Community Housing, Wyre Forest Sheltered Housing, Vestia Community Trust, Worcestershire TeleCare and Oakleaf Commercial Services.

The Parent company provides the corporate services for the Group and is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the work and performance of all the subsidiaries and committees.

What is sheltered housing?

Sheltered Housing is a term used for accommodation that is suitable for people over the age of 60 or have health issues that have resulted in the person being Registered Disabled or being awarded High Mobility Disability Living Allowance.

The accommodation consists of groups of flats or bungalows that are supported by Support24 support workers as required. These support workers provide professional support just when you need it.

All levels of accommodation are linked to our 24 hour, 7 days a week Telecare Response Centre where by pressing your alarm button or pulling a cord, you can speak to a real person who will get you the help and assistance you need.

We provide three levels of sheltered accommodation:

• Category 1 – these are groups of bungalows or flats who are linked to our Response Centre and can access the Support24 service. Available properties are advertised on Home Choice Plus (external site opens in new window)
• Category 2 – these are self contained flats within a building which also has a communal living room and dining room, laundry and guest bedroom. They are linked to the Response Centre and can access the Support24 service. Social activities are also sometimes arranged but these are not compulsory
• Extra care – This scheme is a joint project with the County Council and Crossroads Care and available properties are allocated by a panel in accordance with the aims and objectives of the project
