The Guildhall, Worcester

The venue for the 55+ and Retirement Roadshow is the The Guildhall which is situated in the High Street. For those with satnav, the postcode is WR1 2EY. The show opens at 9-30 and closes at 3-30.

The historic, cathedral city of Worcester has been a location for trade and commerce since Roman times. Today the city has a population of around 93,300 and, as the county town, Worcester is the main centre within Worcestershire for administrative services and jobs, shopping and tourism.  

Worcester is an excellent location at the heart of a beautiful county, with good connections by road and rail to Birmingham, the South West and London, it is an excellent location to live and work.

It's a little known fact that Worcester's beautiful Guildhall has received its fair share of Royal patronage over its long history; many will remember Queen Elizabeth II's visits in 2001 and 2012 but how about King George III on a sunny day in August 1788?

Along with Queen Charlotte and three of the princesses, he pronounced the Assembly Room - now a function/meeting room - on the top floor of The Guildhall - 'a handsome gallery' and drank a toast to 'prosperity to the city and the Corporation of Worcester'.

Jon specialises in the law relating to the elderly particularly with regard to asset protection and long-term care, Court of Protection issues and equity release.

We will also have a representative from the Care Quality Commission who will be answering questions about the national standards of care they are working to maintain. So if you have any concerns about the care a loved one is receiving, now is your chance to find out what you should do.

In the light of the forthcoming changes to the state pension, I am pleased to say that we have Paul Hays from The Pensions Advisory Service again to answer the many queries about state and occupational schemes. In addition, we will also have a member from Tax Help for Older People to deal with any queries regarding tax. 

The stands are usually very busy so do come early and book your space if you want to speak with someone in particular.

By popular request, Orlham Farm Pig Roast will be back in the yard outside The Guildhall. They are serving hot pork rolls at lunchtime, plus tea and coffee and cold drinks.
