The Local Pharmaceutical Committee

Welcome to Worcestershire LPC.

The Committee is the local statutory Representative Committee for Community Pharmacy in Worcestershire.

The Committee works closely with the Area Team, Clinical Commissioning Groups and County Council to develop Community Pharmacy Based Services to support the residents of Worcestershire.

The Worcestershire Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) at the 1 March 2014 represents 99 Community Pharmacies each holding an NHS Pharmaceutical Contract and providing a range of locally commissioned services (includes 2 internet pharmacies).

Our mission statement:

To maximise the contribution of Community Pharmacy Providers to Healthcare, by promoting and delivering high quality value-based services to improve health outcomes for patients in Worcestershire.

Community Pharmacy

Your local community pharmacy is the best first place to come for the vast majority of health concerns.  As well as dispensing medicines and selling health and beauty products, local pharmacies offer:

  • advice on getting the best use from your medicines for long term conditions
  • over-the-counter treatments for common ailments such as headaches, itchy skin and stomach upsets
  • support to live a healthier lifestyle
  • health checks

You don't need to make an appointment to see a pharmacist and you can talk to them in confidence, even about symptons that are very personal.  Most pharmacies now have a consulation area where you can talk without being overheard.

The pharmacist is a highly qualified healthcare professional.

A number of pharmacies have undergone extensive training and an accreditation programme to achieve Healthy Living Pharmacy status.

These pharmacies are recognisable by the Healthy Living Pharmacy logo shown on this page.

Every Healthy Living Pharmacy has a Health Champion who is the expert in knowing what is available in their community and can support and signpost you into relevant local services. Healthy Living Pharmacies can also offer extra support and services such as stop smoking, alcohol interventions and sexual health.

Our events

In addition your local pharmaceutical team organise various health initiatives such as alcohol awareness, smoking cessation, weight management clinics where people can find out what help is available for them to take steps to lead a healthier life.
