Brian House was specially designed and planned to create a child friendly environment, and provides a home from home for your child and you, recreating that family atmosphere. We believe that your child and family has the right to be informed of your diagnosis and prognosis if you wish, to allow you to make the best possible decisions and plans for the future. Like the rest of Trinity we have highly skilled staff and volunteers helping us.
Brian House meets complex needs, providing support for the family and care for children/young adults who will not be cured of their illness. Our respite care, which we provide at regular intervals, gives families the opportunity to experience times of relief and normality.
The advantage of having our service locally is not only that we provide respite care, but also much needed day care. In the event of a sudden emergency, care is always available.
A little respite
We can offer you specialised respite care as part of our service. To give ‘mum’ a break from the 24-hour demands of her child with multiple complex needs. To give ‘dad’ a chance to see his wife as more than just a nurse and to give your other children time to be the centre of attention for a while.
Brian House facilities
We provide appropriate care and activities to meet your individual child’s needs in a relaxed warm, homely environment. Our unit is equipped with everything needed to provide the very best care for your child, including:
If your child is staying with us, you will also receive:
You can also make use of your own separate first floor flat with two en-suite bedrooms in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere while your child is with us.

At Brian House, we have a dedicated bereavement service. The service is available to all families in the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre areas in the event of losing a child whether you are previously known to Trinity or not. If you wish to access this service, just call the nurse in charge on 01253 595552.
Our experienced staff also work with counselling services to organise CASCADE groups to provide specialist support to children and young people who are affected by the traumatic loss of a brother or sister.
