Best Foot Forward offers a selection of weekly walks within the Wyre Forest District. Best Foot Forward is accredited by Walking for Health and aims to increase physical activity throughout the district.
The walks are easy country and town walks designed to allow you to develop a regular walking habit to improve health, meet new people and become part of a social group with similar intentions.
All you need to do is turn up with suitable clothing to match the days weather conditions. Each walk lasts between 60 - 75 minutes.The distance covered could be anywhere between 2 miles to 3 miles.
Shorter walks of 30 minutes are also offered and BFF recommend the opportunity to walk at Stourport Sports Club on their track, Wednesday at 10.30, where you can easily and safely walk and build up your fitness on a flat surface, where you can count your laps as your fitness improves. Walking from 15 - 60 minutes. This is run by WFDC, not WfH and charges may apply.
BFF also offer progression walks of approximately 5 miles on the first Saturday of the month. Again they are not part of walking for health.
1 Footprint (30 – 60minutes) Health Walk
Distance: Up to 1.5 miles
Suitable for: People who have mobility problems or who do little physical activity.
Walks are: Flat, with hard surfaced paths and pavements. No steep hills or step. Suitable for wheelchairs and or buggies.
2 Footprints (75 minutes) Health Walk
Distance: Between 2-3 miles
Suitable for: People who take part in a small amount of exercise or who wish to increase the amount they do.
Walks are: Along paths and pavements, sometimes with slopes, steps and stiles.
3 Footprints (2 – 2.5 hours)
These walks are not considered as Health Walks as they are longer and the routes may include slopes and stiles which makes them more arduous. These longer walks are called Progression walks and are covered by Worcestershire County Council as part of the Worcestershire Walking Network.
Distance: Up to 5 miles
Suitable for: People who regularly walk in the countryside or who have taken part in health walks for a prolonged period of time.
Walks are: More demanding than a health walk. Terrain at times will be uneven and steep. Stiles are likely to be encountered. These longer progression walks are not part of Walking for Heath.
Dogs are welcome on all walks, but please keep them under control and on a short lead.
