Age UK Gloucestershire is the largest independent organisation in the county working with, and for older people, providing support services, classes and groups for later life throughout the county.
Information & Advice
Our trained and experienced staff are here to help you make the most of your retirement. Everyone deserves a dignified and comfortable retirement. Often though, people are not aware of all that is available to them, or they may be faced with a problem they don't know how to solve.
Just a few ways in which we can help:
- Pointing you in the right direction to get the support you need
- Checking that you are receiving all the money you are entitled to
- Filling in forms to claim more cash if you qualify for it
- Working with you to solve problems
Our help is provided:
- By friendly, experienced staff
- In a safe and confidential atmosphere
- After listening to you what result you want
- Independently and impartially
- Free of charge (although a donation is always welcome)
We work closely with many other respected organisations and if we feel it would result in a better outcome for you we will make contact with them. We will always ask your permission before we do this.
Services For You - a few the many we offer are listed below:-
Advocacy - help with saying what you want and obtaining the services you need.
Clean Sweep Plus - this service provides help with housework and other everyday jobs to enable you to remain living independently.
Day services - Join us at activity centres around Gloucestershire for friendship, fun and activities to suit all tastes.
fit as a fiddle - The 'fit as a fiddle' project, funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund, aims to encourage the over 50s to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Home from Hospital - This service provides reassurance and practical support to help get you back on your feet for up to four weeks following discharge from hospital. There is no charge for this service as it is funded by Gloucestershire NHS and Gloucestershire County Council.
Magic Mouse computer sessions - sign up for friendly one-to-one computer training at our office or in your own home.
